Goods for Good, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which promotes the successful development of orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi, Africa, has successfully used the LandAirSea Tracking Key to identify and record the movements of their beneficiaries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The tracking operation, which began when a Goods4Good representative visited the offices of the New York-based tech company, Quantum Networks, will enable the group to continue their great work assisting a wider and broader range of at-risk youth in southeast Africa. Mitsue Yamamoto described their experience with the GPS logger:

“We used the Tracking Key device to gather coordinates of partner community organizations and schools in rural and peri-urban areas where there is no tarmac road. The device survived the heat and humidity from the rainy season and returned safely to the US (with some orange-ish dirt from villages on the cover case!). From installation of the program to getting the coordinates via Google Earth, the process was fairly simple. Despite its tiny size (4″ x 1″ x 1.5″), Tracking Key stored tons of information we needed. We will now be able to show our donors where our beneficiary children and communities are located and strategically plan our expansion. Zikomo Kwanbiri (‘Thank you so much’ in Chichewa, Malawian language)!”

The Tracking Key is passive GPS device that records traveling informatidon locally in its on-board flash memory. Users attach the devices directly to their computers’ USB ports and transfer the data. They are then able to retrieve breadcrumb trails and other useful GPS tracking data which is displayed using the device’s included software.
